The questions many people are posing are on whether a Bay Tree would be capable of surviving cold winter areas or it requires protection. Bay Tree loves the environment where there is no frost but can withstand light chills provided that she is properly sheltered and covered with a mulch above the ground. Bay laurel is also cultivated in containers that can be taken to the house in colder areas that have a winter season. Warding it against extreme freezes helps save the foliage and plant life. What is your mechanism of winter protection of your bay laurel or bay leaf plants?
