Its great to see Virginia Rails back. A sure sign of Spring. There is a saying that rails are shy birds. I find the birds are cautious and hard to see in the marsh grass. Like most birds, If you just wait. you will be rewarded. R.J

Great shots! You're right, rails are not terribly hard to find, you just have to be patient and wait for them to show themselves. They often do not, which is why people think they're so hard to see, but eventually they do show themselves, and when they do, they're not terribly shy.
