I don't shoot wild life. In fact, I think the last time I photographed animals in the impromptu wild of a zoo was two years ago with my 10D at Portland Zoo. Before I went out to shoot my fly-fishing job, I saw several of these perched on a wire and some Typha. The second photo looks like something from "Angry Birds." Rawr.

It's tough shooting against the sky and still get the details. Good job on all. The second is my favorite.

you could probably brighten these up a bit and pull more detail out of the blacks... RWBBs can be tough subjects, but they're such fun to watch, especially when you see 'em chasing off herons and the like from their nesting areas...

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Rocky, next time I'm out there, I'll look for more, trying not to underexpose so much, normally I run about -1/3 to -2/3 on all my photos.

Reed, i hope you don't mind, i pulled this into CS2 and spent about 45 seconds tweaking the brightness, hue and saturation... obviously, more time would probably yield better results, but i mainly wanted to show you how you can bring out detail in PP even if you shoot a bit underexposed. i usually shoot about 1/3-2/3 under as well, but only for landscapes. for birds, i usually shoot right at 0EV, sometimes even a touch over.
