saw this little guy this afternoon, and can't figure out what it is. it was about the size of a crow. too far away in lousy light for a good photo, but hopefully someone here will know what it is...
Consulting my Peterson Field Guides' Hawks of North America, it looks like a light-morph rough-legged hawk. They are found up north in the Samish/Skagit flats.
Hawks from Every Angle is good for field ID as it shows photos of the birds as you are likely to see them in the field. The author is a well known raptor expert. http://press.princeton.edu/titles/8025.html
