While discussing music on your photo gallery website, one of the members brought up posting videos to his photo site.

If you have a site for your photography, do you also include videos? Obviously, if you're mainly a video shooter, you would. I'm curious about those folks who do mostly still photos, but also the occasional video.

For example, maybe you do weddings, and along with some sample wedding images on your site, you've got a shot of the bride and groom walking down the aisle, or the boquet toss.

What's your feeling about video on websites? Is it a good thing or bad? Does it enhance the viewer experience? How do you avoid the start/stop/start/stop problems with slow connnections?

If you offer video services as part of what you do, alnog with stills, then it is necessary to have video. However if all you shoot is stills the I'd say no video. You don't want to clutter up your site with stuff that does support the purpose of your web site.

Some one could argue that by putting a video of the photographer at work it will help sell their services. Is that how a potential customer would see it? What if that video set some unrealiztic expectation on their part you did'nt realize and so did'nt meet it? You'd now have an upset customer.

I agree, but would that be the case with any service? A hit and miss potential anywhere..
