    I know at least one reviewer that's said the Sigma's a great lens (relatively speaking). I hear mixed reviews about the Tamron, but so far the clients that have used it on my tours liked it enough. Max

    Thanks for sharing, Jeremy. I like the beach shot, especially. Lots of interesting layers in that scene that let the eye explore a bit. Where was the bison? Did you make a Yellowstone trip? Max

    Good stuff, Bill. I'll add another non-local owl to this thread, as I picked up my very first Barn Owl on a recent California trip. Hard to believe that I'd seen 20+ species of owls around the world, and the most common species--Barn owls are found worldwide--had eluded me until now. Max

    They weren't cropped all that much (the vertical may have been from a horizontal shot). A 2x converter was actually too much. You could probably walk right under the bird if you wanted to and it would pay you no heed. Because it was higher up, most of the photographers were set up maybe 15...

    I hope to see one in the wild some day. I visited Borneo a couple years back, but there's usually a very remote chance of seeing one in the wild. Though since then I've had clients that have told me they "saw them every night" there, so I must've been looking in the wrong places! Max
