    Ecola SP

Great viewpoint, and I like the composition. A couple points lower on the saturation would be my only suggestion.

    Hello from Bothell!

Welcome to the forum. You have a pretty extensive set of pictures and a lot of them are very well done. Good attention to lighting, exposure and focus.

Back in Action - Blue Heron

Great lighting and nice detail in the bird. The feathers jump off the image.

    Why I always shoot RAW

I have to agree with Bob about the RAW vs jpeg argument. Most of the time I use RAW to fine-tune WB and exposure. When I take car photos, the WB can be slightly different between an interior photo with an open car door and one with the door shut. I could set WB manually for each scenario but its...

Serious Eagle Action at Edmonds Marina Park

Totally cool. Great story to go with a set of intense pictures.

    Bees

In flight shots are definitely cool. Bring on the warmer weather.

    NW bird photo outing

Right across from the island, on the Oregon side. I was out on a road near a town called Scappoose.

    NW bird photo outing

Thanks for the compliments guys. I was surprised the variety of birds I saw that day. I took the first 4 pics in the matter of a few minutes. The next day I went out and just saw a lot of these little ones:

    That's a swarm of them Joe. I wonder if they're hungry ;)

    NW bird photo outing

Went out today and grabbed a few quick shots. Sometimes I just have to get out to enjoy the sun and shoot photos for the sake of clicking that shutter. I was using the D700 and 300mm f/4 AF-S lens with TC1.4 teleconverter. This is some of what I saw:

Use of Railroad Tracks as a Photo setting - Please Don't!!

Good info and something that needs attention for the active train lines. But I gotta throw this in here, there are at least 3 tracks just in my town that are unused. By unused I mean they just disappear into brush and one of them is a remnant about 100yds long, with no way to get on or off...

    Wldlife of Edmonds, WA. 2014

After switching to all full frame cameras last year I miss the ~1.5x extra reach of the crop sensors. Unless you have a 600mm+ lens I guess :) For bird pics I often crop out 1/2 the image on even my closest shots on full frame but with the D300 (1.5x crop factor) I could keep more of the...

    Portraits

Its always good to get the flash off the cameras or to bounce light etc. Its a good place to start. I think portraits are fun because they can be challenging and also so customizable with everything up to the photographer and their imagination.

    Chad's 2013 Photo Highlights

The colors in the mandarin shots are great and the freezing falls pics are good as well. Nicely done.

    25 Amazing Photos of Bicycles

I like that idea. Another thing I've done, and had good results with, is pick a prime lens like a 35 or 50 and work primarily on composition and framing.

Some of my favorite photos from 2013

Can you give us the comparable full frame focal length (or close to it) for your digiscope setup? My farthest reach with my current setup is 630mm on a crop body.

Some of my favorite photos from 2013

I had to look up digiscoping. It looks interesting.
