    Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge 4-5-2018

Nice series! Ridgefield is a cool place. I'd go there more often, but it's quite a drive from where I live. I like how the birds are pretty used to cars and don't pay much attention to you. Kinda feel bad for the deer with the identity crisis.

    First rufous of the year

Yes, I am well aware of his ability to find and photograph birds. He used to shoot in Kirkland and get photos of wood ducks and eagles snatching fish on the fly. I’d go to the same park and see 3 mallards, a couple of geese and a blue heron 500 yards away... But even knowing that, I’m still...

    R.J From N Seattle

Hello and welcome to the forum! Good timing, we just finished a complete overhaul of the website and it's got a much nicer appearance as well as some new features. Let me know if you need any help in figuring out how things work. Looking forward to seeing some of your photos.

    First rufous of the year

One time, many years ago, we came across a field full of purple flowers, maybe fireweed, not sure. As we stopped to shoot the flowers, my wife said “what’s that buzzing sound?” It was hummingbirds, hundreds of them. Quite an amazing site. They were apparently migrating. We went back the next...

    First rufous of the year

Well, gee, not too shabby for your first attempt... Care to share some tips? How did you know where he'd be? (I have never gotten anything this good, not even close! I'm happy when my eagle shots look that good, let alone these little guys!)

    Yellowstone Raven

Max and Bill were talking about these guys in a recent post. I find them to be rather intriguing, and they're not exactly hard to stalk, LOL.

    Eagles in Black and White

Went for something a bit different than my usual eagle shots. Kind of like it, not sure though...

    Yellowstone Winter 2014

Great stuff! I love Yellowstone, one of my favorite places. I have a similar elk silhouette, but yours has a much nicer sky, mines just white. Like you, I was also impressed by the ravens, they're cool.

    Edmonds Eagles 2017-2018

Yep, exactly. Which, for me, is more like -2/3 from default, since I always shoot at +1/3 under normal conditions.

    Edmonds Eagles 2017-2018

Eagles are an extremely challenging subject to get right, especially in bright sun. The head is so bright white, you can easily lose all detail. If you dial it down enough to bring out feather details in the head, then you start losing detail in the dark body feathers. You need a camera with a...

    A Girl and Her Cheerios

Wow. Just wow... The next time you're grumbling "I can't find anything to shoot" remember what she's done with Cheerios. Talk about being creative!

How to go from shooting auto to manual explained in 3 minutes

This short video by CreativeLive explains the basic concept of why you would want to shoot in manual. Granted, they're hoping you'll sign up for classes to learn more, but if you're new to photography, you can get some good basic info here. It's easier to understand in video form.

    Bird ID needed

Last night a flock of 48 birds appeared in my yard. There were also reports of a large rabbit seen at the same time. He vanished, but they stayed. Can anyone ID these guys?

    Sirfoldalot here!

Hello and welcome to the forum! I'll have to admit, I was confused on exactly how you're "new". Then I realized that you are new here (PNW PHotos) even though you've been on my Model RR forum for a long while. Enjoy and feel free to comment and post photos. We welcome photographers of all...

    Randy Johnson, professional photographer

I happened across this while doing some sorting on the forum. His website is still there, at http://rj51photos.com It also looks like it hasn't been updated much since he created, but then again he probably doesn't care. I really doubt he's doing $500 wedding gigs on weekends. :)
