    I've noticed that many amateurs just don't look North when shooting their scenics. I don't know why this is, but have observed it over the years. Nice shot. Pops

    There will always be crossbreeding, because Mallards are not averse to mingling with domestic ducks, even in back yards. I've seen them come arunnin' when going out to feed the ducks, when I had ducks. Pops

    I have read that those kinds of markings are caused by cross breeding of Mallards with domestic ducks. The wildlife biologists I've talked to encourage hunters to take them any time they can. Apparently, Mallards will cross breed with domestics more often than other breeds do. Pops

    If you want to see grooming problems, raise standard Poodles and train them for hunting. They never saw a briar patch they couldn't bull their way through. :D Pops

    Yes, Moses Lake. I've run across a Nelson or two, but don't know any of them except in passing. I drove school bus in the Cascade Valley for 10 years and all the kids know me, so he might have heard of me, without the photography attachment. Pops
