Some of my favorite photos from 2014

What can I say? I am grateful for being able to document all of these great scenes of nature from around here during 2014!

    GHO fledgling at Nisqually

Perfect! I was wondering how those owls were doing up there. That owlet is branching, which means, it will be spending most of it's time out of the nest and wondering around on different limbs in that area. I'd keep up on it, Rocky! Are there any other owlets poking around in the nest...

Excellent shot, Bob. That is a superb reflection, did you have to work the photo to bring that out at all? Chad

some of my favorites from last year...

I know (LOL), I remember when you originally posted the photo, Bill, you and I were discussing how it vaguely resembled a tsunami wave. I'm certainly glad that wasn't the case.http://www.pnwphotos.com/forum/showthread.php?10994-an-evening-at-Cannon-Beach&highlight=cannon+beach Chad

some of my favorites from last year...

Thanks Rocky for sharing your favorite shots from 2014! The sharpness in the osprey in flight is truly a favorite of mine. I'm trying to get over the evening surf in the background that you captured during sunset at Cannon beach. Again, all great photos. Chad

    Bald Eagles rule!

Nice shot, Joe! Neat story behind it too. Did you take any pictures of the event leading up to the eagle's arrival? Chad

    Owl Season 2015

I found a picture of the Nisqually owlet on the refuge's Facebook page. I usually don't see GHOwlets here in northern Oregon until March. Photo credit belongs to Louise Whitehead. That's a nice find up in Nisqually, Washington...

    Owl Season 2015

Bill, Interesting to hear about the GHOwlet at Nisqually; hopefully there is a follow-up along with pictures. Let us know if you hear anything else. Although there's been Great Horned owls present at TRNWR in recent years I am unaware of a nesting location at the Tualatin River refuge. There...

Great shot of the Northern Pygmy owl, Tyler. How far away were you and was it making it's calls when you guys found it? Chad

    a harrier

Nice shot Rocky! I don't think I've ever been within 40ft of a harrier with my camera. Chad

    Golden-crowned Kinglets

Excellent shots, Joe. Such a photogenic bird also, sort of an animated personality too. The top picture kinda resembles a wind-up toy. Chad

Window Watching - Birds Visiting My Gardens

No glare. This seems like a close candid shot. I understand that windows can serve as a blind. I prefer to not shoot through a window due to all the obstacles of glare, reflections, dirty smudges, etc. but when the lighting is right and the window is clean, I've notice it offers a distinctive...

Window Watching - Birds Visiting My Gardens

Excellent capture and a Happy New Year, Debbie! I like the feel of the picture and detail in the feathers. The nice soft color background gives the subject good contrast along with depth. Was this taken through a glass window by chance? Chad
