Exactly!!! And now that the last year or two we can see the public comments on ALL images it sure is an eye-opener to what people will highly praise. It just doesn't mean what it did when I first started out by ANY means. BTW: I was a photo-moderator/approver there two years. You wouldn't...

I gotta add something from my own learning experience (which is still an ongoing event). There is a national photography site that I posted at and usually won an Approver's Choice award every 5th to 10th image or so. They typically only gave out 5 to 10 a day with between 700-1000 uploads a...

A nice series, but man oh man! That B&W shot just hits it. Absolutely LOVE it. Well done.

    Wupatki Pueblo - 8/27/10

Taken during a summer monsoon storm in bracketed shots (of 3) then converted in HDR. In total there are more than 800 identified ruins spread around many miles of desert within Wupatki National Monument, but five of the largest (Wupatki, Wukoki, Lomaki, Citadel and Nalakihu) are close to the...

Snuffy, your camera does have manual iso settings. Here is the manual for the Fujipix s5700 S700: http://www.siue.edu/lovejoylibrary/avs/pdf/FUJIFILM_DIGITAL_CAMERA.pdf Look at page 79. It will show you how you can change yours from between AUTO to 64, 100, 200, 400, 800 or 1600. Hope that...

    Last Light On Mt. Hood

Bob, that looks like what I was seeing after it was too late to make the dash for the river. Maybe we will all show up another time. I keep watching but Sunday night we had spent the day with the dogs at the river in Ridgefield and I was tired. We will keep watching and will on occasions get...

    Cattle Egret

That is beautiful. I have seen plenty of cattle egrets because they migrated south to us in So Cal every winter...but I have never seen one in breeding plumage. Beautiful tones and controls of your white. Nicely done. And oh yeah...did I mention I really like this? ;)

    Last Light On Mt. Hood

Steve, was this Sunday night? That is BEAUTIFUL!!! You scored. =) George and I were driving home in the afternoon. I looked over at Mt Hood and told him that I bet someone gets a great shot tonight. He asked if I wanted to go down to where you were probably standing (the jetty with the walking...

Family Portraits - three of the menagerie

On that last shot, the one with the wild eyed Sammy, I put him up that site where people caption cat and dog photos. He isn't given catnip that often (even though we have a 7 foot bush of it out front). But when he does get it, he enjoys rolling in it very much. .

Family Portraits - three of the menagerie

Here is the REAL cat in our household....eating a bit of catnip picked fresh from the front yard. Definitely a snapshot, but I do believe it captures his personality quite well. Sammy is a Maine Coon and he doesn't aggravate my allergies at all. Maine Coons' are really great that way. We...

Family Portraits - three of the menagerie

Janice, it is funny that I saw hidden and obstructed where you saw snuggled. I can do snuggled. Charlie came in April. When we adopted Sarah we had told the shelter then (February) to 'please take our name off your list now'. They told us they had. The phone call in April from them was quite a...
