    This little guy was digging in the moss on a tree trunk and retrieved a cache of corn... such a cute little guy! Lifer for me as well!

    A friend and I took a trip south to the Columbia River this afternoon in search of sandhill cranes... we found them! Lifer bird for me... Gray, overcast light was not my friend, and none of these were closer than 100 yards, so these aren't as sharp as I'd really like, but perhaps next time... ;)

    Thanks, Bill! I've gotten red-tails numerous times a lot closer than this one was, but in general , yeah, red-tails can be skittish... love to play telephone-pole leap frog with you... :)

    This Cooper's was sitting up in a dead tree watching over a field of stubble... got some nice light on him, which helped a lot. This is fairly heavily cropped, since he was a good 50 yards or more away.

    Stopped off at Westport on the way home from Tokeland on Saturday... pelicans were still very much in evidence, and some still in breeding plumage... Synchronized preening... apparently, flying isn't the only thing pelicans do in formation! :D

    Got some shots of a small flock of willets at the Tokeland marina last Saturday - lifer birds for me. They were quite close, maybe 15 yards or so tops, with pretty good light.

    Nice find, Bill... I remember the egret hanging around the marina boat launch area for about 6 weeks in early fall of 2015.. got tons of photo of it while it was there.

    LOL! Actually, I didn't even spot it - I was driving at the time (~10 mph on a forest service road), and my friend saw it out the passenger window, so we stopped for photos... ;)
