    Car Show

Thank you all for the kind words. I am inspired to visit another car show and expand on this concept. I would really like to shoot some of these cars away from the crowd to make a more aesthetic scene....but we do what we can don't we. Chuck

    Car Show

I don’t normally go to car shows but went to one the other day with my camera gear. I felt like a coyote in a hen house…didn’t know where to start. Lots of great cars to shoot but I found a car show is not the best place to shoot cars as they are jammed together and people are everywhere so...

Unfortunately, leprechauns are invisible to the camera. Nice shot though. Chuck

    Waterfall on the McCloud River

Thanks for the comments all....and the interesting discussion. I've been to busy to get back to the site but I do have a comment about HDR. I really like it for some images or to bail me out of a tough shot. It can be overdone and that's usually a matter of taste. I tend to like dramatic...

    Waterfall on the McCloud River

Thanks guys. The McCloud River is located near the town of McCloud in northern California. The river eventually empties into Shasta Lake.

    Waterfall on the McCloud River

I returned to the Middle Falls on the McCloud River to try for some shots on a stormy day with high water. I have shots under bright sunny conditions but wanted something different. The first two shots are HDR with ND filter and the third shot is processed for a painterly look. Chuck #1...

    Maintenance Deferred

Thanks for the kind words all. I confess that I felt like a coyote in a hen house when I came upon these buildings...I only had time for some quick shots then on to the things I was supposed to shoot. Chuck

    Maintenance Deferred

Hi Heather...thank you. I did push the saturation a bit but mostly the vibrance. It is probably at the edge if not over the over-saturation line but I pushed it to where it looked interesting to me. There's no account for my taste stometimes. The light green moss or whatever is growing on...

    Maintenance Deferred

I haven't posted in a while so here's a couple shots from far northern California where we identify with the Pacific Northwest. I took the shots a couple years ago when shooting some property for an organization, but recently re-discovered them and worked them up. The term "maintenance...

Very nice! And a reminder to think outside the lens. Chuck

Light in The Midst of The Storm

Bob...I think it bothers me mostly because I think it might have been more pleasing if I had been able to put the church more off center. Yet when I took the shot and played with it it worked best, for my aesthetic tastes, as it is. Some shots work best with the main subject centered and I'm...

Light in The Midst of The Storm

Thanks Bob. To be honest, it bothers me a bit that I couldn't follow the rule of thirds with this image but, as you said, it's more of a principle than a rule. In my opinion it didn't work for me with this image. I was able to follow the "rule" here...

Light in The Midst of The Storm

I appreciate everyone's comments and don't mind the rework. I am aware of the rule of thirds but I centered the church right to left (in camera) in order to include what looked good and exclude what didn't, the shot includes just about the entire sun patch and I don't think a half patch would...

Light in The Midst of The Storm

We are in northern California for a couple weeks so yesterday I set out on a stormy day to see what I could shoot. I came upon this scene which had its own natural beauty but also a bit of symbolism. Sorry about the large logo. Chuck
