    I photographed one of these this AM and did not recognize it. When I saw yours and your question as to recognition I searched and finally found it. It is called a Lorquins Admiral and is one of the "brushfoots" I found it on www.greennature.com

    We keep our feeders out year round and are delighted to have several Annas winter over. It does get to be a bit of a responsibility when the temperature dips below 28f or so, as we have to set the alarm to make sure that feeders are frozen, and quickly thaw them.
