    Southeastern US Road Trip

Thanks Bill. The mosquitoes are terrible. If you plan a trip down there I'd recommend calling the rangers to check on the situation. As I understand it, the time of year they are worst changes.

    Southeastern US Road Trip

Our last 5 weeks in the US before moving to Kyrgyzstan were spent on two road trips. The first, a West Coast road trip (photos HERE) and the second driving along the SE coast. Here's photos from that trip: 1) We flew into New Orleans and immediately fell in love with the city. 2) I...

    Kyrgyzstan

    6) After Orientation we settled into temporary home in a village outside the capitol. Village life was pretty awesome. These cows walk themselves home every night at 6:30, splitting off one-by-one as they reach their home. 7) Most nights we go to the schoolyard and play with the kids...

    Kyrgyzstan

2 years ago my wife and I applied for the Peace Corps. It took 18 months but in April we finally were on a plane and headed to our new home, Kyrgyzstan. The last two months have been a crazy whirlwind of travel, language learning, awkward moments and a lot of fun. Now I'm at my permanent site...

    Great Smoky Mountains NP

We recently took a trip to the Smokies. The weather didn't cooperate but I was excited to get my first extended chance to work with my new Fuji XE-2. The only sunrise we had a chance to see was on our first drive into the park A small piece of the Appalachian Trail One of the...

    Eric's 12 from '12

Thanks to my first full year being diligent with tagging all my photos in lightroom, I'm organized enough to actually make a 'best of.' These photos aren't my absolute 12 favorites from the year but they do represent the variety of things I shot last year. 1) Crater of St Helens 2)...

    Mountain Goats in Western WA?

The easiest place I know in summer to reliably find goats is Headlight Basin which is about a 6 mile r/t hike. I posted photos of it in 2011. I know of a lot of places that are drives and short walks where you may see goats but to be sure to find them you need to hike where they live.

    Kauai

I just spent a week in Kauai and wanted to start a thread to share some of the photos as I go through them. These two are from Kalalau Beach which is located in the middle of the Na Pali Coast. In winter, it's only accessible by a fairly difficult 11 mile hike so we camped a couple nights at...

    Sauk Valley winter

Great conversion on the B&W. I like that mountain, I was supposed to hike it in October but driving rain kept us away.

    U of Washington basketball

I had my first chance to shoot a basketball game, it was a blast. I only tried a couple angles, I had a hard time figuring out where on the baseline I liked to shoot from as well. I didn't have a 300mm prime which would have been nice and given me a chance to shoot form the corners as well...

    New York

I debated cloning it out but I think I like it there. Most people don't even notice it.

    New York

Everything pretty much costs in NYC, it's a spendy place. The Empire State Building was something like $25, we bought a 3 day pass to a whole lot of things (which I wouldn't recommend.) This wasn't a 'photo trip' so I didn't spend a ton of time exploring but one free spot to check out is...

    Whitehorse Mountain

Nice shot, I love that mountain. We tried to climb it last spring but were turned back by bad avy conditions. It can kinda feel like Alaska when you're on it too...

    Mt Rainier Update

Snuffy, I wouldn't get offended by anything said here. My comment about Les Schwab was made in jest, hence the ;) . It's tough to convey your intent behind a sentence online without the usual cues people pick up on when talking in person. Best to just assume things aren't intended to be...

    Mt Rainier Update

Make sure you call the Bend office since Les Schwab moved ;) Last March we saw a guy with a 4wd truck and snow tires get turned around. He was yelling at the girl at the road block and in about 15 seconds the law enforcement ranger showed up. I'd carry chains in winter. In April or May you...
