    I'm pretty sure this is an immature Sharpie. I've managed to forget his name (worked at Paws) identified a very similar bird is photographed in our yard. The identifying feature he mentioned was the lack of feathers on his legs. Great shots, Bill.

    Great to get out with you, Bill and Daren! Thanks for the 'heads up.' I dropped by the nest this evening and the fledglings were calling for 'food'. Since they were facing west, and it was dark and cloudy I didn't get any reasonable shots.

    My wife and I spent about 4 days with the Sandhills at Bosque del Apache on the flyway in New Mexico a few years ago. What a treat....your photos brought back memories, Rocky.

    Thanks, Bill. I had one comment on a pBase site I post on, that this is the first image of the moon that they had seen that looked '3-dimensional..... I think it is the lighting, that of course, I had nothing to do with :)

    Got a call from my son, who said he could see the 'Blood Moon' eclipse - so I rushed out with my Canon 5Diii, 500mm f4L and 2Xiii. Manual focus because of the dark moon and lack of contrast. about a 5 second exposure at f8 ISO 2000. Even manual focus was difficult.
