    MORE Urban Autumn~ CC's OK

Right! We can't just leaf it alone, can we?

    MORE Urban Autumn~ CC's OK

Oh boy! Another leaf caught in the fence! Nice one! I especially like the texture you got in the fence rail. Keep them coming - they'll make a nice series.

    Portland MAX Light Rail

Yep that does have a bit of Starship Enterprise feel. :) The shutter speed was 1/15 sec, and it looks like I needed 1/8 or maybe 1/4 for this to work right. Possible, but pretty slow for hand-held, even with image stabilization. Live and learn, right?

    Portland MAX Light Rail

Thanks! I was experimenting with slow shutter speeds, and this one turned out to be just "in between" - not slow enough to give the train the blur I was hoping for, and not fast enough to freeze it.

    Portland MAX Light Rail

Thanks Bob for the feedback. Yes it was really just a "what the heck are they doing?" kind of shot. I initially thought the cones helped give it that construction feel. After I saw it on the screen, though, I wished I had got much closer and shot with a wide angle from a low vantage point to...

4 MikePDX More Leaves on a Fence!!!

I like it! This version has a much edgier quality that I find more appealing than the first.

4 MikePDX More Leaves on a Fence!!!

For moi?! Thanks! I like these, too. Especially the first and second. If there is more detail to be had in the upper right part of the leaf #1, then I would agree with Climbbike: You can lower the overall exposure to bring out leaf detail, letting the bottom shadow area go black. I think it...

Getting out of my comfort zone

Thanks Jeremy, comments appreciated. And thanks for that link. With in-body image stabilization I can use relatively slow shutter speeds hand held, like 1/8 sec in this case.

Getting out of my comfort zone

Yep, I've used Oly SLR's and DSLR's for almost 30 years. I love them, but alas, I think Olympus losing it's focus (no pun intended) on cameras. I'm not sure it will even be in the enthusiast camera business by the time I will need a replacement. :(

Getting out of my comfort zone

So, I'm mostly a landscape ant trains shooter. Yesterday, a friend and I went out for a day of shooting MAX lightrail in Portland. Now I'd call this more like street shooting, which I've never really done before. I sort of liked how this one came out, and would like some feedback on it...

Urban Autumn CC's and Random Thoughts OK

But seriously folks, #3 (the single leaf stuck in the fence) really caught my eye. Nice find, and an excellent capture. Well done.

Excellent! Was this a lucky capture, or were you expecting it?

    Last Hint of Sunset

Shot on the final night of a cruise to Desolation Sound. In Chukanut Bay just south of Bellingham, WA. What especially caught my eye was the reflection of the sailboat's anchor lights.

Interesting capture! I hope he doesn't toss and turn in his sleep! :)

    Sunrises of different moods

Re: Sunrises Chito, these are all very nicely done. I think I agree that sunrises can be nicer than sunsets, but for me somehow they are much more dificult to capture well. The light at sunrise seems much "softer" and sometimes doesn't render faithfully. Could just be my technique - or lack...
