Rail Train delivering rail in the Blue Mts.

East of Motanic, OR, the man on the ground is cutting the welded rail with a torch to release it.

    Bosque del Apache

This is wonderful! I don't care what category this goes in - it is simply great work! I especially like the consistent use of golden light. It holds the piece together perfectly. It is also just the right length to keep my interest. If I had any suggestion, it would be to add a close-up or two...

captured a funny whippet moment yesterday

Great moment! Great moment, although I'd have to say it doesn't look "funny" to either of them.:eek:

    Abandoned...

How would the real estate agent describe this? Well, not exactly "Move-in Ready" I guess? Maybe it would be "the value is in the land." :D I like the shot, but the house needs a little too much work for me. :)

    Great Horned Owls???

GHO Indeed I believe you're right - Great Horned Owls. Looks like the one on the right is telling you off!

    Last Night's Sunset...

Nice job. Could be titled "tree with halo". Did you line up to get that tree directly in front of the setting sun, or was that just a happy coincedence?

    Duck Duck Turtle?

Nicely done, Christena. I see what you mean about wishing the first shot were sharper, but it seems to me that the motion makes it ok to be just a little soft. @Janice, isn't that a wood duck in the first shot? Christena, I was wondering about a tighter crop on that second one. Would it...

    Synchronized Swimming

Little known back story Little did we know that second pose wasn't a part of the regular routine. The ducks were just so upset with a score of 7.5 on their signature move that in perfect synchronization they just spontaneously mooned the judges in disgust! Not realizing what was happening...

    Spring Flowers in B&W

The 3rd shot is great! Of these three, I really like the third. The black background really sets off the flowers well. I agree that you could bump up the contrast even higher. The second shot doesn't work for me in B&W somehow. I think its because it is a bit too busy, and the lack of...

    A Number of Familiar Faces

Welcome aboard from another Mike in Portland. It's basically a friendly bunch. Quite a few Portlanders here - even a few on the west side. Love to see some of your glass photos.

    Humpback Whale

Excellent sequence. That is one fine breach series! Did I spy a baby whale poking it's head up in the second shot? From experience, I can say they aren't that easy. I got a few breaches down in Baja last year, but nothing this good. When you are out in a small boat, you have to be looking...

    Splash Dancing

What exactly is an urban nature day? Is that some sort of holiday I was unaware of? Should I be celebrating somehow? ;) Or is it more like a "time out"? Just playin' with ya. :)

    Splash Dancing

Urban Natue Day? What exactly is an "Urban Nature Day"? BTW, nice dancing ducks! I'm hearing strains from the BeeGees and having visions of Saturday Night Fever. ;)

    The birds

Female Eurasian Wigeon might also fit the bill, so to speak. ;)

    Xylo

You nailed that third shot I'd say your action shots aren't all that bad. #3 is especially good. An 8x10 print of that one would be a good gift for your friend.

The bridge to nowhere! Great capture.

    Evergreen Aviation Museum

Their third building is constructed and has their Evergreen 747 installed on the roof. That in itself looks pretty spectacular. They told us they will eventually have a water slide comind down from the 747. I suspect kids would have a ball.

    Gasworks Park HDR

This looks like a natural subject for HDR. I think it works pretty well. The only thing isn't so appealing to me is the halo that surrounds the structure. It appears to be backlit or something. I guess that must be just a by-product of the HDR process.

    Evergreen Aviation Museum

They do seem to have "connections in high places". However, I just saw a list of the museums that are vying for one of the shuttles. It is very long and Evergreen wasn't one of the front runners. Janice, I just saw your almost identical shots of the Trimotor interior and the Spruce Goose...
