    Another Bird

I think this is some sort of Raven, but I'm not sure. Taken at Doug's Beach in the Columbia River Gorge last Sunday. Can anyone ID it for me? Canon 5D w/ 70-200 f/2.8L IS. ISO 100, 1/320th, f/3.2.

    Downhill Biking

C/C requested. I've got a 5D so it isn't the fastest thing in the world for this kind of thing. Post processing is the usual- reduce noise where it is needed and smart sharpen after that. 1. Looking out over the city of Ellensburg. I'd love to have that house on the right. 2. Some ominous...

    Sunset at Othello

Thanks for the input L.L. Heim. The fractalius plugin pretty much turns the photo into a series of lines, I saw it done on a landscape before and it turned out pretty well. I use it on mostly color coordinated photos, not nitty gritty detail photos since it doesn't turn out very well. It turned...

    Sunset at Othello

Driving back from a railfanning trip at Providence Hill on 2/5/2012. Converted with the Fractalius plugin for CS5 from Redfield plugins.

    Kittitas (In the backwoods)

It really depends on what you are trying to emphasize. If something is small, try a wide lens closeup with the object in the foreground and lots of sky. I'll see if I can find an example tomorrow.

I knew I saw that cow pasture somewhere....

    Kittitas (In the backwoods)

That last one is quite good, the trees make a nice frame.

    Dam at Sunset Falls

So shots like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95p0QScAgGU&t=8m8s wouldn't be available? That would be most unfortunate if the plan were approved.

Hey producekid, I'm currently going to school here in the 'Burg. Nice fall shots, I was too busy with school to get out there and take some shots. Was that last one taken on E Helena ave?

    Big Gaynor Camp-out 2011

Made this one a few months back. I need more footage before I make another video, but I have been swamped with school work lately so there has been no time to get out and shoot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFMxzlg9Pmk

EMD F9 #7012A Startup instructional video

Thanks for the C&C timmo, I appreciate it. Lack of funds means, I'm only using the on camera mic (birthday is coming up, so I'll probably get a better one then.) Next video I do will feature a steam locomotive and will be a bit better prepared for, that'll be some time in December.

    Red-winged Blackbird

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Rocky, next time I'm out there, I'll look for more, trying not to underexpose so much, normally I run about -1/3 to -2/3 on all my photos.

    Red-winged Blackbird

I don't shoot wild life. In fact, I think the last time I photographed animals in the impromptu wild of a zoo was two years ago with my 10D at Portland Zoo. Before I went out to shoot my fly-fishing job, I saw several of these perched on a wire and some Typha. The second photo looks like...

    Ravens at Scenic, WA

Yeah, we saw a work train head west on Wednesday, I think they stopped at Gold Bar with two Geeps and four ballast cars. Also saw the slot machine at Sultan on the way out.

Cool shots Jason, Were these taken on Wednesday? My brother and I were up on the pass railfanning then. Saw a few hyrails heading west at the Bonneville cut.

    Macro Photography

If you don't have one grand lying around, and are wanting a 180mm macro, try the Sigma 180mm f/3.5 EX DG macro lens. You can pick one up off of Amazon for about 600 bucks. I've got one now, and love it- all the way up to 1:1, and it can substitute as a really sharp telephoto...
