A friend and I went for a short hike today to Grassy Knoll and Grassy Pass in WA. Usually this is a prime location for wildflowers beginning with balsam root.
This year is an exception. The balsam root bloomed very late this year so there was little to see. Usually that blooms just a little later than those in the Columbia Gorge. But this year all bets are off. So some flowers have come and gone. Others have yet to bloom, that is if they still want to
Regardless, it's a great place for a hike.
