an evening at Mt Baker (3)

took a little jaunt this afternoon up to Mt Baker... spent the late afternoon and evening there. This spot is on a forest service road, not well known or publicized, so images of this side of the mountain are not nearly as common as photos from Artist Point to the southeast...

this is a 2:1 crop of the original... cropped out some empty sky and shadows in the foreground to make a nice pano, ideal for a 10x20 print... 5D2, 24-105 @ 35mm, 1/80 @ f/13...

as the sun was going down, the alpenglow was amazing! this is SOOC, didn't change the colors at all! 5D2, 24-105 @ 105mm, 1/15 @ f/8...

just for grins, i stuck around for an hour or so after sunset to see what i could see... 5D2, 24-105 @ 75mm, 15 sec @ f/8, ISO 3200...

Looks like the view from the Glacier Creek Road. Hard to get bad shots from there, especially with such a willing subject.

i figured you'd recognize the spot, Joe... but it seems most folks don't know about it. they stop for a few shots at the junction between FS39 and FS36, then proceed up to the Heliotrope Rodge trailhead and park. seems not many people go any farther...

hard to tell for sure, Bill... last time i looked at it from Artist Point - which is the only side i'm at all familiar with - it looked about the same, but difficult to judge for sure, especially since i haven't actually tried to compare it to previous years...
