As usual Bill Anderson took me into bird territory.....he found the Barred Owl. As we headed toward the suspected owl hangout at Yost Park, a couple of Pileated Woodpeckers graced us with their presence.

Although somewhat obscured by branched, this sleeping Barred Owl was in full view and even had some reasonable lighting.

When heading down the gulch to find the owl, the pileateds announced their presence.

All of these shots were taken today (March 13) using the Canon 7D and 400mm f5.6L most at 1/1250s, auto ISO and f5.6 hand held.
