Snow Plow No 1

This 129-ton Snowplow was built in 1899 by the Cooke Locomotive and Machinery Co. of Patterson, NJ. Designated Snow Plow No. 1 she gallantly fought through winter blizzards and rock-hard drifts for 65 years, retiring from active service in 1964. During these years, No. 1 made 2,580 trips and traveled 181,000 miles. The blades turned either clock or counter-clock-wise as needed and tossed snow and ice for hundreds of feet.
