    Got this tufted puffin returning to its nest on Haystack Rock with a fish Saturday afternoon in Cannon Beach... it was at least 75 yards away (probably more), and puffins are not large birds, so this is severely cropped, but I was thrilled to get shots of one at all!

    Found only on the western coasts of Washington, Oregon and California... in WA, only south of Chehalis. This one was seen about halfway between Chehalis and Willapa Bay...

    No, just a trail... the Willapa Hills Trail runs from Chehalis to Raymond, and in places does parallel an old railroad line, but this isn't part of it.

They're not rare by any stretch, lots of people see them on feeders... but I don't have a feeder, and most of the time the only other place you see them is waaaaay up in the tops of evergreens.     Got this eastern kingbird in Chehalis yesterday evening... pretty tickled to get it, since these are pretty much only found in eastern WA... this was only the second recorded sighting in Lewis County, according to eBird!

    A few more before the wood pewee chicks fledge

    Got some shots that may be my last good opportunity before the wood pewee chicks leave the nest... one was flapping his li'l wings today, and almost lifted off. Won't be long before they're gone...
