Thanks WildWi11y.....I do love the area up there and Etna is a rich slice of rural small town Americana. I grew up in Siskiyou County in the Big Springs area and still have a house there. Perhaps you can make the Scott Valley Bluegrass Festival up there some time. It's in July.

Sure "E"....I didn't record my exact method but I can give you some ideas and I'm sure you can go from there. My process was somewhat trial and error, I added and deleted layers and images until I got something I liked.
I started by creating a new 8x10 file at 300 PPI. I filled it with a...

Thanks guys. I loved the guitar story and it looks like "ejones" has one too. I bought the second guitar (in background played by my grandson) for $25 and a collector Case pocket knife.
I used to play in a bluegrass band too. There's a gallery on my website dedicated to bluegrass...mostly...

It's still raining outside so I'm staying dry and playing in my digital darkroom. This image was inspired by an art book I saw in my accountant's office while waiting to have my taxes done. He was a great painter but I don't remember his name. His thing was to put realistic objects in an...

It's an interesting picture. I like the lines and detail in the snow and the contrast with the blue sky is striking.

Nice shot....sharp where it needs to be and out of focus where it needs to be. I only wish I could see the bird's feet. No sure why that bothers me but it's not anything you could have controlled anyway.

I like it....nice and crisp and the reflection is great. If it were my shot I might clone out the lilly pad on the right....it's a little distracting to me and I would want to see how it looks without it.

I can identify with that. When DFG closed fishing on the ranch I quit fishing and just take pictures. Fishing was something to did while I enjoyed being somewhere beautiful, now photography fills that cup. Photography does for me what fishing used to do. It's part art and part science and...

This looks like it could be a winter shot but I took it last May when I was camping on the ranch where I grew up. It rained on us every day which isn't fun for camping but I did get some interesting bad weather shots. This was just after the sun set and while there was still some color in the...

Bob, I use MPIX (www.mpix.com) and MILLERS (www.millerslab.com). I use a pro lab for all printing. Both are fast and very good and make problems right if there is a problem. I also use a local lab on occasion.
I use metallic prints most of the time for what I do. It should be framed...
