Fledgling not happy about the parent leaving!
Sorry for the OOF. I'm getting better but I have a ways to go. LOL

I can think of many flat states with bigger skies but none as pretty as Montana skies, at least at sunset.
(Can you tell I'm partial to Montana? LOL)
I have to admit, I've never really paid attention to other states sunsets except for Washington state.
Maybe one day. I'll catch a Washington...

A very short trip to Montana but I did manage to get a sunset shot. (ok - maybe several shots that night. LOL)

Bird Fest sounds like it would be very worth while!
I'm going to put it into my weekend schedule. Thank you for the website.
I love Joe's digiscope shots. Who would have thought to put a spotting scope and a digi camera together to capture images! Very inventive.
I'm actually temped to try it...

Very true, but....the learning curve for me is not so fast. LOL
Limited time (weekends) to experiment and I'm a bit overwhelmed with all of the options available.
The one thing I have the most trouble with is the screen on the camera. Lighting really influences what I see on the screen. I...

Thank you for the tip!
Being new to my camera (T4i) and lens (Tamron 150-600mm), I have to admit I'm a little lost.
I enjoy nature's treasures and hope to learn how to capture them so others can enjoy them as well.

Thanks, Rocky!
Evidently, the tribe still owns the property where the paddle wheeler is moored.
I was just getting into position to take some shots of the front and was informed that I would need to leave.
He was very nice about it but 'rules are rules' he said.
It would have been nice if...

I'm fairly sure that there is a mated pair. I've not been able to locate a nest but that does not mean it is not in the area.
There is some activity in the area (a cemetery) but it does have a water source, large evergreen and deciduous trees, open fields and lots of wild life.
I'm thinking...

From the back.
I need to get a shot of the front.
Got asked to leave before I could get a front shot because I was trespassing.
I'll try again from a different spot.

Up....
And AT ME!!!
I must have been very interesting to look at because I was flown by a couple of times.
As an aside - I'm still learning my new lens so I'm sorry for the shot being OOF. :(

Sunday, I happened upon a tree where there were a number of Herons roosting.
This one seemed to be posing for its portrait. LOL
Not as sharp as I would like but I'm getting closer.
CC would be appreciated.

LOL - I'm not a sailor so I stand corrected.
Or did I get sailor wrong too? :o

He almost looks like he is laughing.
Nice shots!

I think there was an argument about sleeping space.:)

Great shots!
My favorites are #'s 5, 7 & 9.
#7 is everything nature is about. Mom and her kids. LOL

Very nice shots!
Have you ever heard Rufous hummers fly?
They have a very distinctive sound. Kind of like crickets sound but very fast.

Hey, I won $75.00 on that old paddle wheeler! Nickel slots even.
It really is interesting what a person can forget if not looking to remember. LOL
I had forgotten about the old Emerald Queen until Hubby and I ran across the old site and got closer.
I have shots that I'll post later. I'll even...

Cold, Windy and not for the faint of heart to be on the water.
CC's are welcome.

Do catfish really jump? And, yes there is a paddle wheeler less than 1,000 miles away.
The Emerald Queen paddle wheeler is still in town (Fife water ways).
It looks pretty good actually, given the time frame that the old Emerald Queen location has been closed.
Some one is taking really good...
