    Surprised me!

Yesterday was the first time seeing a coyote on Chambers Creek! At first, I only saw one of the pups (thought it was a cat because of the distance) and then Mom moved. I re-positioned to see if I could get a better angle. Fortunately, the family, Mom and 4 pups, did not get spooked off and I...

A little drink and a little swim

Thank you Chad. It was one of those 'right spot and the right time' shots. I really didn't expect the deer to swim and come up the bank so close to me. It really wanted to 'cross the road'. (A road which was in constant use during the tournament.) Now the wildlife can get back to their...

    Bif

No, I didn't attend the event. The golf course is close to Chambers creek and that is where the shot was taken. Almost all of my wildlife shots are from the creek area. There is a small dam for the upper pond and below the dam the tide movement provides numerous bird opportunities. Deka

Taken 6/21/15 Not everyone was trying to get into the 2015 US Open Golf Tournament! Nice cool drink...... And a refreshing swim. Yep, just the local wildlife escaping from the crowds. Deka

    American Bittern?

My initial reaction was Green Heron but hubby wasn't sure. Got home, uploaded the shots and pulled out all of our bird books and still couldn't really ID it. Below is a 2nd BIF image. (I really have to practice BIF shots more!) This image gives you a known bird for size comparison...

    American Bittern?

Sorry for the poor images. Some days I'm on and some days I'm not. In flight. On shore. Hubby and I researched and think we have it ID'd correctly but we're not sure. Thank you for your help to ID this bird. Deka

Joe, Was this digiscoped? Given your talk during Bird Fest, I can't image trying to 'pull' all of the digiscoping elements together for that shot. Deka

Did I get this one wrong? Surf Scoter.

I have a shutter release so I'm not using the shutter button. I think my problem is the distance of the subject. They are too far away therefor I need to crop dramatically. I should be more patient. I use a Manfrotto tripod and head to make sure I have a stable platform for the camera body...

Did I get this one wrong? Surf Scoter.

Thank you for the compliment Chad. I hope they make their way down so you can get a shot. They are very colorful in their own way. I tried to do some sharpening in LR5 but I wasn't very satisfied with what happened to the overall image. I need to get better with the shutter release...

Did I get this one wrong? Surf Scoter.

No wonder it was staying close to the pilings. There must be some good feeding there. Deka
