one of several bucks i saw up at Hurricane Ridge on Saturday... he was about 20 yards away, coming through some trees. he poked his head out, saw me and stopped, then after deciding i wasn't a threat or a rival, he went about his business, and finally wandered off across a patch of snow and back into some trees. i expect there'd be a lot of hunters that'd give their eye teeth for a "shot" like this! 40D, 100-400 @ 300mm, 1/320 @ f/7.1...

I like YOUR kind of 'shot' much better. This way, others can get a 'shot' at him too.
Beautiful capture, Rocky. I like the lighting. I only ever see them in the shadows and from afar.

thanks, Leia. i much prefer my kind of shot as well. i don't mind those who hunt to stock the freezer, like my son's uncle - venison makes mighty good eatin' - but i despise those who hunt for "sport" with no intention of eating what they kill. personally, i have no desire to hunt except with a camera.
