gray jays are common in the Cascades above about 2,000 feet, and are fearless when it comes to raiding campsites for unguarded snacks. my dad always called them "camp robbers", and having seen them in action, i can see why! these were taken up along highway 20 not far from Rainy Pass.

this one was cropped about 40%, since the little stinker flew into a tree and i couldn't get as close... 400mm, 1/640 @ f/6.3
