this cormorant has caught itself a nice catfish for supper... took it about 5 minutes to get the fish positioned properly, but once in place, the "sushi" disappeared quickly! 7D, 400mm, 1/2500 @ f/5.6

Cormorants are always fun to photograph. Sometimes one will catch a certain species of fish (bullhead?) below the fishing pier in Edmonds that has a head which is far too large for the bird to swallow. I have witnessed them struggling to swallow the fish in vain for a half hour. I usually leave before the cormorant gives up.
