The 100-400L is a very versatile lens. For three years it + the 7D were my weapons of choice for my walk & stalk method of bird photography. I still use my 100-400L, only it is now attached to the 5D Mk III which I bought last year.
yeah, i used mine on my 5D2 for a while, but the 7D gives it a bit more "reach"... i use my Mk II as a landscape camera primarily, and now that i have the 7D for wildlife, i can put the 24-105 back on the 5D2 and leave it there...

"Understudy" shots are good. What lens were you using to take those shots?
