hadn't been down to Juanita Bay Park for a couple of months, waiting for the changeover from summer residents to winter, so i took advantage of a beautifully clear but very cold day to pay a visit. the winter gang were all there, including several i wasn't able to get shots of, but these little fellas all cooperated nicely... all with 7D and 100-400L at various settings...

one of his buddies made a fly-by. i'm a little rusty at my high-speed panning, it seems...

this little hoodie swam by close enough for a decent shot...

and a Wilson's snipe was out in the open on the mud flats, foraging for worms...

thanks, Bill! actually, i find it easier to get good exposures in this kind of light than in the bright light of summer... it's almost like shooting at the "golden hour" all day long! just a shame sunny days are so rare this time of year... and so cold!
