spent the afternoon hanging out at Juanita Bay Park, one of my favorite birding haunts. it wasn't a very active day, but i did manage a few decent shots...

a ruby-crowned kinglet actually stopped bouncing long enough for me to get a shot. i didn't get the red on his head, but i did see it while he was flitting about...

buffleheads can be a challenge to shoot because of the contrast in their feathers, and catching the iridescence in their heads requires the right light... but it can be done!

nothing special about the pied-bill, but they're just so damned cute... ;)
