first, a shout-out to Jerome... thanks for the tip on this little guy, my man! went down there this afternoon and spent a solid hour shooting the bittern as it worked its way along the edge of the pond. light was crappy - gray sky, flat light, and some drizzle, but the shots i got made it well worthwhile. haven't gotten any shots of this reclusive bird since 2007, so this was a nice opportunity! i have over 200 images - these three happened to be the first ones i picked out. i also got some of it fishing, which i'll post a bit later.
thanks, guys! i was very fortunate - it was intent on its hunting, and allowed me to photograph it from relatively close range for about an hour... usually, if you see one of these at all, it's only for a moment before it disappears into the reeds of flies off.
