took a chance on the weather and went down to Mt Rainier on Monday afternoon... it looked very promising on the park's webcam before i left home, but it's a 2.5 hour drive to get there, and the weather around the mountain has a way of changing quickly. by the time i got there, the clouds had thickened to the point that i despaired of getting any decent photos, but as i made my way up to the Sunrise visitors' center on the northeast side of the mountain, the clouds broke a bit, though the summit was pretty well socked in. i'd been hoping that "cap" of cloud would blow away before sunset, but it was still an impressive sight. the glacier in the center is Emmons Glacier, the largest in terms of surface area in the continental US. at the foot of the glacier, you can see the headwaters of the White River flowing down through the valley. 5D2, 24-105 @ 24mm, 1/25 @ f/11, -2/3EV
