Today was a great day for kayaking and anything else you might have thought of doing, but it was special to find a number of re-sightings of banded CATEs at Semiahmoo.
The best was this one, which was banded in Bellingham as a 4-5 week old chick in 2010.

I took part in this operation where we banded 252 chicks on July 30, 2010. It was one of those things where you just had to be there.
 
nice! the terns were out in force fishing at the Everett marina again today... will post some shots when i can...
 
Is that one of the hatchlings from the colony on the old paper mill grounds? It is unfortunate the Port of Bellingham took questionable actions to break up colony. They could have waited until the property had a real buyer that was actually going to develop the site.
