one more eagle... caught this fine specimen making a hard right turn, offering a perfect view of its markings in almost ideal light. really shows how broad and powerful eagles' wings are!

Good shot. Certain conditions create updrafts from Puget Sound along Sunset Ave. and Pt. Edwards in Edmonds. The resident eagles and other birds with long, wide wings such as hawks, crows, and gulls will soar in the updrafts for long stretches of time. It looks as though they are doing it just for fun.
Super nice, Rocky! And wishing you a great New Year!

thanks, guys! this one was circling around, looked like it was waiting for one of the others on the ground to move off before it landed. there was quite a bit of "milling around smartly", and for a while, there were at least 3 or 4 birds in the air at once, so plenty of opportunities for BIF shots...

It is always cool when you can get an eye level shot of an eagle passing in front of you.
