My sister-in-law has a beautiful piece of property adjacent to the Wenatchee River. Basically an open pine forest. These images were all taken this past Memorial Day weekend, using the Canon 5Diii and 400mm f5.6L, mostly.
Hairy Woodpecker at River's Edge - a lucky happening. Normally I only see these guys in the trees.

A MacGillivary's Warbler - a lifer for me. I caught this one in the deep shadows of the trees and all I saw was a silhouette when I took the shot. What a great bird!! Total Luck

This is a Red-Naped Sapsucker that I initially thought was a Hairy. Another 'lifer'....The following image shows more distinguishing characteristics.
