The American Bitterns were out in force in the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge this Sunday. I love these guys.

They can sometimes be a little hard to see.

excellent work, Janice! i've only ever seen one, about 6 years ago, and though it did let me snap a number of photos from a dozen feet away, i've never seen one since!
