Spent six hours kayaking on the Chuckanut shoreline yesterday and my primary targets were the two sets of young BLOYs that I've been seeing and only digiscoping. Many others birds but I was focused (pun?) on the oystercatchers.
The two younger ones are about two weeks old and the older batch of three chicks about five weeks+.
*The light was mostly terrible, overcast all day, but I persevered.

Can't say I've ever seen a digiscoped BiF shot that good. Well done, Joe.
The first time I ever saw these was way down on Stewart Island, beyond New Zealand's South Island. I've never seen chicks or juveniles though.

Thanks, Max, but I shot all of these from my kayak with a 300mm lens. Kayaks and scopes/tripods don't mix very well.
I've posted on three different list serves trying to track down the banding program/individual responsible for these bands.
