Canyon Park, 2015

I visited Canyon Park twice this past week. There was a nice variety of birds and a lot of activity from what looked like musk rats. Can anyone help with the ID of the shore bird?

I have a few more pics to add. There was a hawk circling above with something large in its talons and soon after another came in to investigate. The green heron was very active hunting for a while then went back into the brush.

the shore bird is a spotted sandpiper. the furry critters are nutria, an invasive species originally from South America. nice shots, especially the goldfinches!

The hawks might be a mated pair of red-tailed hawks. Look for a nest and babies.

I use a sony A65 camera and sony 70-300mm F 4.5-5.6 G series lens.
