took a short hike down the lower Coal Creek trail this afternoon. the creek itself isn't all that much to look at, and you can't get to it most of the time, but it's a nice walk anyway. here are a couple i thought were kinda interesting...
Coal Creek spillway... 5D 24-135 @ 69mm, 1 sec @ f/16 w/polarizer
gravel bar... 5D 24-135 @ 135mm, 2.5 sec @ f/8 w/polarizer
I really like the second shot; motion juxtaposed with the rocks=coooool idea! Different exposures and compositions would be fun to play with!
I like that second one best. It would probably be a real wall hanger, almost like something you'd see in a doctors office, if you retook it so all the stones were in focus. Since the water in the background is moving and softened from the long exposure it doesn't need to be very sharp, so you have more room to work with in front to keep the stones all in focus.

yeah, i think my focus point was right at the edge of the water, so the foreground wasn't as sharp. fortunately, this is an easy spot to get back to, and i'll probably pop back there on a nicer day (it was late afternoon on a very overcast day when i shot this) when it's a bit brighter, with better contrast, and reshoot from much closer to the bar.
