After lunch with my daughter and son-in-law in Marysville Friday afternoon, Daren and I went up to Eide Road. A large flock of snow geese flew directly over the parking lot. They were quite loud! I had telephoto lenses mounted on the two cameras I had set up, so I was unable to capture the full effect of hundreds of geese flying very low directly overhead. It was one of the few times I needed a wide angle lens to photograph birds in flight.

The birds landed in a field not far from the parking lot.

As we were departing, I got closeups from the pickup of a few geese near the road.

A pair of hawks briefly stirred up the flock.

I mounted the 5DIII + 500L telephoto + 1.4x TC to my heavy tripod and walked to the ponds. The only shorebird present was a yellowlegs. It was a warm, sunny day and heat waves rising off the water and mud made telephoto photography difficult.
