Wednesday (6-10-15) Daren and I went to the Everett marina to photograph Caspian terns. We were there at high tide, which I subsequently found out is the wrong time to photograph them diving near the boat launch area like Rocky did. I took the opportunity to practice tracking birds in flight with the 500L telephoto + 1.4x teleconverter using various auto focus settings of my 5DIII.
I was shooting the terns at -1 exposure compensation to avoid over exposing their bright white feathers.

I suspect there is a tern nesting colony on the beach at the north end of Jetty Island as something stirred up a lot of them from that direction.
