Wednesday afternoon Daren and I met Rocky at the Everett marina. Nothing much was happening until a lone least sandpiper flew from the shore out to a log. According to my bird book, least sandpipers usually don't spend winters here. This sandpiper has probably not read the book.

A flock of dunlin flew over the water from the direction of the parking lot.

good catch on the dunlin, Bill! i didn't get s worthwhile shot of those. did get the sandpiper, though. don't know if they winter here or not, but if they migrate, the get a late start... i got shots of both least and western varieties up at Crockett Lake last November...
