Breakfast of Champions?
How about some nice tasty rotting fish? This Bald Eagle found this salmon carcass in the Nooksack River. Spawning season is nearly over, so finding fish was getting tough. He found this one, dragged it out of the water, took a bite or two and decided it was too far gone for even a scavenger like him.

blecch! not my idea of good sushi! great shot, though! i got up to the Nooksack twice this year, didn't get much... there just weren't near as many eagles there as when i went last winter.

It wasn't even his idea of bad sushi. He drug it up onto the bank, had a bite or two, and then decided he wasn't quite that hungry.

Apparently the season started earlier this year, and ended earlier. It's all about the Salmon, and there were very few Salmon in the river when I visited. Many eagles had left, and the ones that were left spend the day hanging out in the trees since there's not much to eat in the river. I haven't been back since, as once i saw how few fish were around I knew the season was done for the year.
