you'd asked about places to get bird photos... there are a number of places in the area - Spencer Island, the Heirman preserve near between Snohomish and Clearview, even the Skagit Flats, if you're willing to drive a ways and are interested in raptors. i've have the best luck, most consistently, at Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland... here are just a small sampling of the shots i've gotten there...

Nice shot with the American Bittern. I understand that they are rather elusive. I saw one once with a camera in my hand and my pictures didn't turn out as nice as yours, blades of grass in the way and it took off way too soon.

I will say that they make one of the best sounds in the animal kingdom. Sounds like water being poured out of a plastic jug.:D

The short distances at which you have photographed those birds is incredible. Please loan me your Klingon cloaking device. ;)
