a friend wanted to go over to Seabeck this past weekend to see if there was any activity leftm so i went with him... not much going on, unfortunately. Just a few juvenile eagles - yearlings, by the look of them - and an adult that hung around keeping an eye on things. i suspect it was a resident family. the distance was farther than i'd expected, so it was hard to get really good shots, but i can see where it'd be entertaining with crowds of eagles milling around... this one saw a heron with a fish and, in typical eagle fashion, tried to steal it, but the heron was having none of that! it took off with the eagle in pursuit...

finally the eagle gave up and broke off pursuit, and the heron flew away to enjoy its meal. the wingspans are about the same, but the eagle is so much more burly... i'm sure it could've taken the fish by main force, but being a youngster, lacked the patience to prosecute the attack to completion...
