My wife and I went to the festival thinking the weather was going to be...well, like Gray's Harbor weather - wet! So I didn't take my 500mm lens and tripod setup - just the Canon 7D and 400mm f4L.

It always takes me a while to decide which shots I want to process, but here's a few - I'll be adding more as the week goes on.

We had fabulous weather (what a surprise!), although it was very windy and the tides were at at least an hour ahead of predicted because of the late week storms on the Pacific. There were many thousands of shorebirds, depending upon where we went. I'll start out with some shots taken on Saturday the 26th in Ocean Shores, and then progress backward to Friday the 25th.

This was taken at the Ocean Shores Jetty - just to give you an idea of the wind - but check out the blue skies!

There were huge numbers of Marbled Godwits along with Western Sandpipers, Semi-palmated Plovers, Dunlins, Short-bill Dowichers, Black-bellied Plovers (at least a few) and others.

The larger birds are the Marbled Godwits. I was taken with their plumage.

I love that time of year on the coast. Too bad it's such a long drive. Last time I was there, I was using slide film!! Here's an oldie.

Nice, Joe! Those were the days :).

Here's a few more from last Saturday at the festival.

Not exactly a shorebird, but at least it was on a log at the shore; and it is a bird :)

Terry O,
If you don't mind me asking, where were you to get the shots?
Hubby and I will be in that area in a couple weeks and I would like to use the camera.
(Hopefully there will still be some birds around. LOL)
Thank you for your time and consideration.

These were taken on the beach next to the Ocean Shores Casino. There is plenty of parking and a board walk to the beach from the Casino. Great place of shorebirds.
Good luck!

Thanks again, Joe! I have lots more to post, but as usual, it always takes me a lot of time sorting and processing the ones I think are worth presenting. :)
