Green heron young 'uns in a tree at Sprague Pond in Lynnwood... Not grown up enough to fly yet, but able to get out of the nest and explore the branches. There are a total of 4 in the nest.

Bev and I spotted all four chicks and an adult this morning. Bev was relieved that one of the chicks she had seen down by the water earlier in the week was back up at the nest with its siblings.

I'll post up my photos later tonight in my Edmonds birds thread.

I got some more this afternoon as well. That one clumsy chick fell twice more today, once where I could see... landed in that broken branch with the pale colored leaves. Took it about 10 minutes to work its way back up where it belonged.

I'll post some of my shots later...

Sounds like a bird begging for a funny name.
